- The DanX solutions supporting leisure facilities worldwide
Leisure facilities have complex and challenging climate requirements that differ depending on the size, location and specification of their pools and spas. When effective climate control is overlooked, it can leave people, buildings and facilities vulnerable to health and environmental hazards.
In this article, we’re going to explore two companies in Lithuania with differing climate needs and facilities, and how our DanX units provided the ideal product solutions. Our partners at NIT specialise in indoor microclimate solutions, and provide the biggest range of products and solutions in the whole country. Here, we explain the factors behind them choosing the DanX range.
Draugystės sanatorija, Hotel and Health Resort
Established in 1962, Draugystės sanatorija provides adult inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation treatment services.
A respected health resort located in the city-resort of Druskininkai – the oldest and largest year-round balneological, mud and climatic resort in Lithuania – Draugystės sanatorija specialises in a range of treatment services, including for:
Circulatory, respiratory and digestive system diseases
Musculoskeletal disorders
Diseases caused by ionising radiation
Disease prevention
As this demonstrates, these facilities go far beyond the purpose of helping people relax (although spa treatments are also provided) – they provide relief, support and treatment for serious conditions.
This means that a top priority of the establishment is to ensure that the environment is comfortable, welcoming, safe and free of health hazards. To do this, climate control is paramount to ensure the quality is kept at optimal levels, mould and mildew are prevented, and structural damage can’t form.
When a new 3-storey, 3212.67m² annex was built onto the previous building, DanX products were installed for the ventilation, cooling and dehumidification of the pool hall, spa area and their respective auxiliary rooms.
DanX units best met the customer's requirements in terms of the technology, data and architectural elements of the project. The equipment’s high efficiency, reliability and multi-purpose functionality are what made the brand first-choice to keep guests comfortable and protect the facilities.
In particular, the reversible heat pump and cooling mode were very important, as this allows the unit to deliver heating or cooling in accordance with the seasons or changing temperatures, without compromising on air quality or the need for additional equipment.
Which products were used?
The DanX XWPRS air handling units – both the 2/4 and 12/24 models – were used for this project. Find the topline benefits below or see the full DanX XWPRS specification.
Jonavos kūno kultūros ir sporto centras, Physical Culture and Sports Centre
Since it was founded in 1966, the Jonava District Municipality and Jonavos kūno kultūros ir sporto centras (formerly Jonava Sports School) in Lithuania is responsible for coordinating all sports activities in the district, including boxing, basketball, athletics, table tennis, volleyball, judo and wrestling for over 500 students.
The centre also has its own Jonava sports arena, 14 stadiums, climbing tower, gym, swimming pool and much more. The centre provides various services to event organisers, sports clubs and individual residents. As the ninth most populous city in Lithuania, the sports services and facilities provided are a core foundation for the community of over 34,000 residents.
The new building is 4627.15 m² in size and regularly hosts around 100 visitors and 20 employees. Over one floor (and basement facilities), the pool complex consists of:
Swimming pool with four 25m lanes
Children’s pool
Baby pool
Spa area (with whirlpools)
Relaxation area
Cafe area
Juice bar
Five saunas
Changing rooms and showers
Lounge
Our DanX solutions have been installed for the ventilation, partial heating and dehumidification of the children’s pool hall, the swimming pool hall and its auxiliary rooms, and the swimming spa area and its auxiliary rooms.
DanX units best met the requirements and needs of the construction due to the products having high energy efficiency, reliability and functionality, such as heat pump and dehumidification mode.
The centre had to introduce a ventilation unit that met their special requirements. This meant that all DanX products supplied were:
Suitable for operation in winter (down to -21°C) and in summer (up to 30°C)
Modular unit for easy and quick installation with all sensors and electrical components already connected
High-quality and compliant with EN/ISO requirements
Able to supply air volume and regulate temperatures as required (temperature, humidity, CO2 level)
Made of powder-coated hot-dip galvanised steel (corrosion class C4)
Equipped with factory-integrated automation and Modbus RTU protocol connection to the BMS system
Which products were used?
Several DanX 12/24 XWPS systems and a single DanX 3HP unit were used for this project. Find the topline benefits below or see the full DanX XWPS or DanX 3HP specifications.
Why DanX is a powerful yet energy-efficient solution for pools and spas
The DanX XWPS and DanX XWPRS solutions combine the advantages of a heat pump and an outside air dehumidification system. The combination of a heat pump and a highly efficient cross-flow heat exchanger is designed to control the humidity and indoor temperature to perfection.
Free cooling is also an option during summer, when the unit can add up to 100% outside air into the pool area through the integrated by-pass. At night, when the evaporation rate is low and the outdoor air supply is redundant, the system will switch to full recirculation, allowing the system to act wholly or partly as a dehumidifier.
We take great pride in understanding your facilities and goals before committing to a product, as the above examples demonstrate. Our team works hard to find the solution that will not only meet your needs right now, but will remain effective and functional for your long-term future.
