Preventing condensation in fresh food production
Every day, the food industry faces strict hygiene and quality controls, derived from different national and European regulations, such as the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). According to HACCP, water condensation in food production areas is totally prohibited because condensation on ceilings and cold spots in the production area greatly increases the risk of bacterial growth, which can readily spread to the product.
After each production, the production area must be cleaned to be ready for a new production after a few hours. The cleaning is carried out with high-pressure steam and disinfectant additives causing the production areas to become saturated with water and humidity. Refrigeration equipment is often not capable of reducing this oversaturation which generates a thick fog, as well as condensation on ceilings and in the coldest points of the production chain.
Powerful dehumidifier meets the challenge
An analysis of the conditions at MareDeus showed that the best solution for this type of humidity and condensation control is adsorption dehumidification technology, using a desiccant rotor. The Dantherm TTR 3700 with a robust stainless-steel housing provides:
- Dehumidification capacity of 492 kg/24 hours (depending on ambient temperature)
- An airflow of 4,300m3/h
- High dehumidification capacity, even for low temperatures (optionally usable from -20 °C)
