- Guide: Temperature measurement for industrial purposes
Different measuring instruments are available for different scenarios, each tailored to specific requirements. While thermal imaging cameras enable detailed and even visual thermal analyses, pyrometers offer fast and non-contact point measurements that are ideal for hard-to-reach or hot surfaces.
Demanding temperature measurements require specialised measuring devices
Temperature measurement technologies are crucial for optimising operating processes, reducing costs and minimising downtime.
This guide shows which product is suitable for which application scenarios and explains the respective strengths, technical features and typical areas of application.
Different measuring instruments are available for different scenarios, each tailored to specific requirements. While thermal imaging cameras enable detailed and even visual thermal analyses, pyrometers offer fast and non-contact point measurements that are ideal for hard-to-reach or hot surfaces.
The following is an overview of four innovative temperature measurement products: the IC200 and IC300 thermal imaging cameras and the TP7 and TP10 pyrometers. The selection is supplemented by the app-supported infrared thermometer BP21WP.
By choosing the right measuring device, users can not only achieve precise results, but also organise their work processes more efficiently.
1. Thermal imaging cameras IC200 and IC300
The IC200 thermal imaging camera is a compact and user-friendly device designed for thermographic analyses in a wide range of areas. With its high-resolution infrared technology, the IC200 is particularly suitable for applications such as leak detection, electrical troubleshooting or the monitoring of industrial plants. It offers precise temperature visualisation in real time and allows intuitive operation even for beginners.
The IC300 thermal imaging camera is an advanced model for professional users who place the highest demands on thermographic analyses. With its higher resolution and extended functions compared to the IC200, it enables detailed analyses in demanding environments, for example in industry and research, in the energy sector or in construction.
Both systems score points with extensive analysis tools and a robust design for use in demanding conditions. The main technical differences between them are the size and resolution of the detector installed in each case, as well as a higher temperature range and the presence of a focussing function (IC300 ).
Field of application and advantages
The IC series thermal imaging cameras are particularly suitable for professional applications where precise, real-time thermography is required. They are ideal for:
- Building physics inspections, e.g. detecting thermal bridges or moisture damage.
- Technical inspections, e.g. preventive maintenance of machinery, analysing electrical systems and testing photovoltaic systems.
- Safety inspections, e.g. temperature monitoring of industrial plants.
The IC200 is a cost-effective option for general applications with less precise requirements, while the IC300has been developed for complex tasks with higher demands on sensitivity and detail accuracy.
Technical Highlights
IC200
- Temperature measuring range -20 °C up to +550 °C
- Detector resolution 256 x 192 px
- Single measuring points 49,152
- Field of view (FOV) 56° x 42°
- Geometric resolution 3.75 mrad
- Thermal sensitivity < 0.1 °C at 30 °C
IC300

Both models offer DuoVision technology for a combined, superimposed display of infrared and real images, infinitely variable 16x digital zoom and a robust design (IP54).
The IC series thermal imaging cameras are supplied ready for use with the "IR-Report NG" analysis software. This PC software offers various functions for evaluating, organising and documenting measurement results. With "IR-Report NG", users can, for example, configure isotherms, call up temperature statistics histograms and carry out point, line and rectangular measurements in the thermogram. The software also allows reports to be created and exported.
Recommendation
For professional real-time thermal imaging measurements (e.g. building and plant inspections).
- IC200: Ideal for applications in the building sector or simple technical inspections.
- IC300: Recommended for high-precision requirements such as industrial safety tests, measurements on photovoltaic modules, detailed analyses of the smallest components or in veterinary medicine.

2. Pyrometer TP7
The TP7 pyrometer is a powerful infrared thermometer for precise temperature measurements. It is specially designed for applications where surface contact is impossible or impractical, such as rotating, hot or hard-to-reach objects. Thanks to its precise measurement technology and fast response time, the TP7 is ideal for industrial maintenance and process monitoring.
Field of application and advantages
The TP7 is a versatile, precise infrared thermometer with simple operation. It is suitable for:
- Precise measurements at a distance: Thanks to an optical resolution of 40:1, even smaller measuring points can be accurately recorded from a great distance.
- Temperature monitoring: Especially at hard-to-reach, hot or hazardous measuring points.
- Large-area analyses: The multi-point laser aiming aid and the high-low alarm display speed up work.
Technical highlights
- Measuring range: -50 °C up to +1000 °C
- Accuracy:
- ± 2.5 °C at -50 up to 20 °C
- ± 1% at 21 up to 300 °C
- ± 1.5% at 301 up to 1000 °C
- Multi-point laser indicates measuring spot precisely.
- High-low alarm with colour change on the display for quick visual feedback.
Recommendation
The TP7 is particularly suitable for users who want to carry out uncomplicated, precise measurements at a distance, e.g. in trade, during technical inspections or maintenance.

3. Pyrometer TP10
The TP10 pyrometer offers even greater measuring accuracy and an extended temperature range for particularly demanding applications. It is a precision tool that is characterised by its versatile functions and the possibility of detailed temperature analysis. Typical areas of application are high-temperature processes, the metalworking industry and other specialised industrial applications.
Field of application and advantages
The TP10 is aimed at professionals with demanding tasks. It offers:
