Throughout our 60 years of operation, Dantherm has become renowned for its unparalleled expertise and ability to build effective working relationships that meet the needs of our clients’ ever-changing landscapes. A perfect example of our collaborative approach can be seen in our work with Hospitainer – the Dutch humanitarian aid company providing field hospitals and clinics in crisis situations across the globe.

Developing a close collaboration with Hospitainer

Formed in 2010 by Rolof Mulder, Hospitainer provides hospitals and clinics in containers and tents. The company has grown significantly in the last few years – from being an industry pioneer to becoming recognised by governments and humanitarian organisations worldwide. It has rapidly expanded its product portfolio to include a range of robust, mobile, medical solutions housed in inflatable tents.

A huge part of their success comes from their ability to react immediately when people’s lives are at stake by providing the right medical equipment at the right time and at the right place.

Dantherm first worked with Hospitainer to provide temporary heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for a field hospital in Yemen. We have since collaborated on many similar projects, providing more than 200 HVAC units for their field hospitals across the globe.

Meeting sky-rocketing demand during the pandemic

As a close working relationship between Dantherm and Hospitainer developed, we were able to gain a stronger understanding of their needs and help foresee potential challenges. With this complete transparency and effective communication, we can help them make sure their solutions are ready for deployment at a moment's notice. There is no better example of this than the events of 2020.

As the effects of COVID-19 spread to almost every corner of the globe, the rapid and wide-scale deployment of field hospitals became a top priority for governments trying to save lives and minimise the devastation of the pandemic.

Because of our effective, collaborative approach, we established an agreement for Hospitainer to have a consignment of stock Dantherm HVAC units in their warehouse, ready to enable the fastest possible deployments.

What makes an effective working relationship?

Our successful work with Hospitainer is an example of the kind of collaborative relationship that we bring to all our clients. While every customer will be facing different challenges, we have found that the core elements of seamless collaboration are:

  • Expertise
The ability to share our years of experience and in-depth knowledge allows us to provide proven solutions for our clients.

  • Understanding
As well as being experts in our own field, we work to become fluent in our clients’ industries so we can help them better overcome their most pressing challenges.

  • Flexibility
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’. Providing the most effective solution for our clients, and helping them react fast, relies on our ability to stay agile and adapt the way we work for their specific needs.

  • Service
Dantherm does more than just provide world-renowned technology. Even though our systems are designed for ease of use and reliability, we facilitate extra training and support to bring personnel up to speed.

  • Communication
Without clarity, transparency and trust between our team and our clients, achieving all of the above would not be possible

The right solution when it counts

Often deployed in remote locations, where personnel and patients are being subjected to harsh conditions, portable field hospitals need to be ready to handle a range of fluctuating climates. At the same time, they need to keep the amount of extra equipment to a minimum for ease of logistics and quick deployment.

In hot climates, an effective and reliable way to control extreme temperatures is essential to help secure the comfort, wellbeing and safety of those working and recovering in field hospitals. This has gained even greater importance throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as excessive levels of heat is known to increase the transmission of infectious diseases (including COVID).

To help minimise this risk, along with the dangers of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and to provide optimal working conditions, it is essential that temperatures inside a field hospital are maintained between 22°C and 25°C. This calls for an easily deployable, easy-to-use system that can be relied upon in severe conditions with little-to-no maintenance.

Designed to handle the most extreme environments on the planet with powerful heating and cooling capacity from -32°C to 60°C, Dantherm’s AC-M18 is a perfect example. It is purpose-built for field hospitals in tents and temporary buildings where the need for climatisation is higher than that of normal accommodation, and where capacity, durability and ease of use is critical. The AC-M18 is fitted with G and F filters as standard, but a HEPA filtration solution is available as an accessory.

It’s no wonder that it has become the standard for humanitarian and defence field hospitals across the globe, including those provided by Hospitainer.
